This interactive workshop provides an introduction to spirometry. It is designed for healthcare professionals who care for patients with COPD and other respiratory diseases – particularly those working with patients in the community who are required to carry out accurate spirometry measurements.
Spirometry is vital in the early, accurate diagnosis of COPD and other respiratory related diseases. These conditions are also increasingly requested for medical examinations e.g. for insurance, and is an essential part of occupational health screening.
Through informal lectures and practical sessions delivered by expert practising clinicians, you will develop a basic understanding of normal and abnormal spirometry patterns, as well as the practical skills required to produce technically acceptable results. It could also provide the first step towards accredited training which would qualify participants to carry out spirometry.
