This workshop is designed for health professionals who manage people with asthma – a condition that currently affects around 5.4 million people in the UK and who want to update their knowledge and skills in this area.
Led by expert practising clinicians, the workshop focuses on the latest evidence for supporting patients in controlling their asthma and avoiding exacerbation, including the new NRAD recommendations. You will gain an overview of the latest guidelines and new treatment options, including new inhaler devices.
This is an interactive workshop, involving presentations and group discussions, held in an informal and supportive atmosphere.
Improving Inhaler Technique – half day practical workshop
This workshop is designed to support health professionals who want to know more about inhaler technique to improve the care and management of patients with respiratory disease who require inhaled therapy.
In 2011, 45 million prescriptions for inhaler medications were dispensed in England. Poor inhaler technique is commonly demonstrated among both patients and health care professionals resulting in suboptimal control, reduced quality of life for patients, increased urgent care use and hospital admissions, increased primary care consultations, unnecessary escalation of treatments and avoidable NHS costs.
Through informal lectures and interactive practical sessions delivered by expert practising clinicians, the workshop provides a valuable overview of inhaler technique and the practical skills help patients improve their inhaler technique.
